The DISI & Duratech 2.3L engine comes from the factory with a balance shaft assembly. This assembly dampens the natural vibrations throughout the RPM band caused by the 4-cylinder engine. There are several advantages to deleting this balance shaft assembly.
By removing the OE balance shaft, the engine has less rotational mass on the crankshaft. This allows the engine to rev quicker and easier. During our evaluation, there were no vibrations felt during idle, cruising, or wide open throttle conditions. Faint vibrations occured only during partial throttle acceleration.
Our SURE BSD™ is a one piece design that has been specifically engineered for your 2.3L MZR DISI motor. We implemented a dual O-ring design to ensure its seal.
The SURE BSD™ is made from 6061-T6 aluminum and anodized SURE Blue for corrosion resistance. It is secured with a coated automotive grade steel cap screw and matching washer.
